Evening Tour Olgas & Valley of the Winds with BBQ dinner
This afternoon’s tour takes you to the Olgas, a series of 61 wierdly-shaped monoliths, creating one of the most bizarre landscapes in the world. Known to the Aboriginals as ‘Kata Tjuta’ (many-heads), these massive domes of conglomerate red rock are truly impressive. Walk through and explore the unusually shaped formations, including the amazing Valley of the Winds. The rocky trail winds its way past the everchanging sheer rock faces to a magnificent lookout over Kata Tjuta. After your walk, enjoy a delicious Australian barbecue dinner (choice of steaks, sausages, kangaroo, salads, and bread, tea or coffee) with champagne and fruit juice. You may be joined by dingoes which come out of the bush at sunset! There is time for stargazing too. Central Australia has one of the darkest and clearest skies in the world, an ideal location to view the stars. Your guide will point out the Southern Cross and many other constellations before returning you to your hotel.
Sounds od Silence Dinner
Leave the comfort of your Hotel, on any evening approximately 45 minutes before sunset and journey with us into the desert where a didgeridoo welcome awaits. As the sun dips behind the many domes of KataTjuta, enjoy a selection of fine Australian beverages and sample delicious outback canapes. The sun has set, the horizon is glowing richly, and the BBQ sizzles as the desert silhouettes blend with the darkening sky. Enjoy our special bush blend vegetable soup followed by tender choice cuts of kangaroo, emu, chicken and Northern Territory barramundi - all accompanied by a fresh selection of salads, vegetables and unique Territory chutneys and relishes. This is followed by a selection of Australian desserts, with some old favorites including pavlova and our own macadamia nut pudding. By the time you finish dessert you become aware that the only sound and light is from the gas lanterns. Then the lanterns are dimmed and perhaps for the first time in your life you hear the sounds of the great outback. Completely relaxed, you finish your evening around the camp fire (winter only) with a brew of billy tea or coffee and a glass of port. You are transferred back to you accommodation approximately three hours after sunset.
